Growing up in Jamaica, there wasn't much talk of mental health care or even resources for those who needed them. In fact, needing help was seen as a weakness. Thankfully, things have started to shift. Over the years, mental health has become my passion. I've had the opportunity to work in different settings providing care to underserved communities and to those who may not have initially seen the value in therapy or coaching. It has brought me immense joy to be there for those in their time of need and to help them overcome challenges they thought were impossible.
Along with being a Master's level Therapist, I am a Certified Professional Coach and a Certified Emotional wellness coach. As a coach, I help individuals create a vision of their life, establish meaningful goals and develop an action plan to help them accomplish those goals and achieve meaningful change in their lives. During our work together, we’ll spend some time unpacking the past to determine how those experiences are impacting your life. We'll also take a deep dive into the belief system and thinking patterns that are keeping you stuck, then take steps to overcome them so you can move towards living a life of fulfillment. You’ll learn coping skills to manage anxiety, depression, and negative thinking as well as to improve your self-esteem/self-worth, and your relationships.
I take a person-centered approach to therapy and believe that each individual has the power to be the author of their own life. Therapy can be a daunting process especially since you’re sharing parts of your life that you probably haven't shared with anyone else. I offer a non-judgemental space for you to process the past & begin your journey toward healing.
