About Me

Welcome to my practice! I'm Tania, and I'd like to share more about my journey as a therapist and coach and the diverse settings in which I've had the privilege to work.

Having grown up in Jamaica, I understand firsthand the cultural barriers that often surround discussions on mental health. Seeking help has historically been stigmatized as a sign of weakness, but I am here to tell you that it is, in fact, a sign of strength. The shifting perception of mental health has become my driving passion, inspiring me to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Throughout my career, I've gained invaluable experience in various settings, providing support to a wide range of individuals facing different challenges. I have had the opportunity to work in a domestic violence and sexual assault center, where I offered a safe space and compassionate counseling to survivors, helping them rebuild their lives and heal from trauma.

In community mental health, I have worked with a diverse clientele, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and difficult life transitions. My goal was to make mental health care accessible and inclusive, especially for those who might not have had the resources or support to seek help. I understand the unique challenges that individuals face, and I am dedicated to helping them navigate these complex emotional journeys.

As a collaborative care therapist, I partnered closely with doctors and psychiatrists to address a wide spectrum of mental health issues. This experience allowed me to take a holistic approach to treatment, focusing on the integration of medical and psychological care. Together with medical professionals, we supported individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, postpartum depression, and other challenges that come along in life.

My approach to therapy is deeply rooted in the belief that each individual has the power to be the author of their own life story. Whether you're grappling with past trauma, experiencing the weight of depression, or facing life-altering transitions, my aim is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where we can work together to explore your unique experiences and build a path to healing and growth.
